## Two ways in

- **I'm worried about my child.** Support for parents of kids who learn, feel or grow differently. See [For parents](#for-parents).
- **I need support for myself.** Counselling for adults and teens, for whatever you're carrying. See [For you](#for-you).

## Sound familiar?

- "The assessment is 30 pages long and I don't understand most of it."
- "My child chats nonstop at home, but won't say a word at school."
- "Homework ends in tears most nights."
- "I'm so tired of being the calm one."

## For parents

Our specialty: helping you understand your child and support them at home and at school.

### Understanding your child

- **Making sense of assessments.** We'll translate the report into plain language and next steps.
- **Gifted and bright kids.** Support for perfectionism, boredom and big feelings.
- **Learning strategies and assistive technology.** Study habits and tools that fit how your child learns.

### Feelings and everyday life

- **Calmer days at home.** Routines and tools for meltdowns, mornings and bedtime.
- **Anxious kids.** Respond to worry in ways that build courage.
- **Selective mutism.** Gentle, step-by-step ways to help your child find their voice.

### School, sport and what's next

- **School meetings.** Understand IEPs and accommodations, and walk in prepared.
- **Young athletes.** Support for confidence, nerves and keeping sport fun.
- **Big transitions.** Plan ahead for high school, college or university.

## Our approach: like tea, calm takes a little time to steep

Kids learn to calm down by borrowing calm from the adults around them. That's called co-regulation, and it's at the heart of how we work with families.

1. **Notice.** Spot the early signs of overwhelm, in your child and in you.
2. **Steady yourself.** Simple, real-life tools to stay grounded on hard days.
3. **Connect, then guide.** Help your child feel safe first, then solve the problem together.

## Free tools for parents

Free and private: no sign-up, and nothing you enter is saved or sent.

- **[The Calm Cup](https://steeped.care/tools/calm).** For a hard moment, right now. Steady yourself first, then get what to do and say for your child's age.
- **[All About My Child](https://steeped.care/tools/about-my-child).** A one-page profile of your child's strengths, what's hard and what helps, ready to print for a teacher, coach or sitter.
- **[Score Check](https://steeped.care/tools/score-check).** For a new assessment report. Type in a score and see what it means, in plain words.

## About Ashley

Ashley is a Registered Psychotherapist and the founder of Steeped Psychotherapy, with 5 years in practice. Before starting the practice, she spent 15 years helping college and university students: counselling, teaching learning strategies and assistive technology, and reading hundreds of psychoeducational assessments.

The students who thrived usually had a parent who understood how they learned. Now she helps parents get there, and works with adults and teens on whatever they're carrying.

Education: MA, Counselling Psychology · Master of Educational Technology · Graduate Certificate, Learning Disability Specialist · BA, Linguistics

> "I named it Steeped because, like a good cup of tea, real change needs a little warmth and a little time."

## Questions

### Does my child need a diagnosis first?

No. Many parents reach out simply because something isn't clicking. If an assessment could help, we'll explain what's involved.

### What is a psychoeducational assessment?

A set of tests, usually done by a psychologist, that shows how your child thinks, learns and remembers. It can identify learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder and giftedness, as well as emotional challenges such as anxiety or depression, and it recommends supports for school.

### Will my child come to sessions?

Parent support sessions are usually just with you, since you're with your child every day. We can talk about involving your child when it would help.

### Which children do you help?

Kids with ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, anxiety or selective mutism, plus gifted kids, young athletes, and kids going through a rough patch. No label needed.
