Like tea, calm takes a little time to steep.

Kids learn to calm down by borrowing calm from the adults around them. That's called co-regulation, and it's at the heart of how we work with families.

  1. 1. NoticeSpot the early signs of overwhelm, in your child and in you.
  2. 2. Steady yourselfSimple, real-life tools to stay grounded on hard days.
  3. 3. Connect, then guideHelp your child feel safe first, then solve the problem together.

Try it now: one slow breath

Steadying yourself can start with a single breath. The Calm Cup guides you through it, and helps you calm things down with your child too.

Hi, I'm Ashley.

I'm a Registered Psychotherapist and the founder of Steeped. Before starting this practice, I spent 15 years helping college and university students: counselling, teaching learning strategies and assistive technology, and reading hundreds of psychoeducational assessments.

The students who thrived usually had a parent who understood how they learned. Now I help parents get there, and I work with adults and teens on whatever they're carrying.

"I named it Steeped because, like a good cup of tea, real change needs a little warmth and a little time."

Questions

Does my child need a diagnosis first?

No. Many parents reach out simply because something isn't clicking. If an assessment could help, we'll explain what's involved.

What is a psychoeducational assessment?

A set of tests, usually done by a psychologist, that shows how your child thinks, learns and remembers. It can identify learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder and giftedness, as well as emotional challenges such as anxiety or depression, and it recommends supports for school.

Will my child come to sessions?

Parent support sessions are usually just with you, since you're with your child every day. We can talk about involving your child when it would help.

Which children do you help?

Kids with ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, anxiety or selective mutism, plus gifted kids, young athletes, and kids going through a rough patch. No label needed.
